Compact Flourescent Light Bulbs, now commonly called CFLs are an inexpensive way to lower your monthly electric bill.  CFLs are sold almost anywhere regular incandescent light bulbs are sold.  They come in a variety of shapes and sizes.  Wattages are somewhat different from incandescent bulbs; many people are accustomed to buying 60, 75, or 100 watt bulbs.  CFL wattages are approximately 1/4 that of incandescent bulbs for the same light output.  A 23 watt CFL bulb emits the same amount of light as a 100 watt incandescent bulb.

Not only do CFL bulbs burn less electricity, they also emit far less heat than incandescent bulbs.  This makes them a great product to use on multi-bulb vanities.  A vanity with 4 incandescent bulbs can emit over 350 watts of heat.  A vanity with 4 CFL bulbs will emit so little heat, you probably won't even notice.
